I studied traditional and literary journalism, photography, and digital media as an undergraduate at The Evergreen State College and South Puget Sound Community College. In graduate school at the University of Washington, I majored in political science and minored in cultural anthropology through the Russian East European Central Asian Studies program. My professional experience includes work in the education, non-profit, and vocational service sectors. My education and experience served me well when I ran for office as a grassroots candidate — twice. I wrote all of my speeches and created the majority of my own campaign materials, with technical assistance on recorded statements. I continue to write on issues that matter to me. Topics range from art, social justice, and politics to untold historical narratives (which really is a combination of the first three topics).
