Politics

Some people may know me from my political and social justice activism in Tacoma, Washington. Previously, I served as a City of Tacoma Human Rights Commissioner and ran for local office as a grassroots candidate a couple of times (losing each time). Throughout these experiences, as well as my time volunteering for Planned Parenthood and other organizations, I spoke out in favor of the need for higher wages, more accessible political practices and public spaces, LGBTQIA+ and reproductive health protections, and more.

Still, many more who don’t know me personally may have clicked the “Politics” heading for assurances that we are on the same page. I am Suuuuuuuper Left. Like, Scandinavian Democratic kind of left. The “we should be spending tax money on schools and housing and healthcare, not imprisoning innocent people and bombing other nations” Left.

My work tends to reflect this, even when I’m not seeking to make political work. But for those looking for even more openly political work, check out the following projects:

[Super New!] Oh, No! Politics: A YouTube Channel that addresses politics with varying degrees of humor and empathy. (If there’s a punch thrown, it’s in a firmly upward direction.) Subscribe on YouTube and follow on BlueSky.

[New!] Axi The Accessibility Axlotl: A series of illustrations featuring the Accessibility Mascot that we shouldn’t need but here we are. Available on Instagram and BlueSky.

Yeetcosystem: A satirical micro-animation about the luxury housing industry. This film short was featured in the 2023 Tacoma Film Fest and the 2024 Valkyrie International Film Festival (NY). A game expanding on this universe is currently in the works. More information can be found on my website and on BlueSky. You can watch the video that started it all on No, Mine! Studios’ YouTube Channel. If you want to help get more views on this work, please like, subscribe, and share!

[Old, sooo old!] Some of my writing is still on Medium, which I haven’t updated it in quite some time. But while you’re there, you’ll find a very immaturely written story that reportedly convinced a major audio equipment company to add an accessibility feature, as well as a story that I’m fairly certain is the reason my car kept getting targeted immediately after its release. I’ll let readers figure out which is which.
